The Urban Fat Kid
The Urban Fat Kid is a multi-instrumentalist whose musical journey began in childhood as a guitar prodigy. Over the years, his sound evolved beyond six strings, expanding into keyboards and mandolin while drawing inspiration from high-energy electronic genres including happy hardcore, house, and dance music. This fusion of live instrumentation with electronic influences has become the defining characteristic of his style.
Based in Northwest England, The Urban Fat Kid built his reputation on the live circuit, performing in pubs, clubs, and blues venues with a variety of acts. Most notably, he played alongside The Jonny Turner Band, gaining valuable stage experience and developing a reputation for versatility, energy, and musical instinct.
In 2017, his career was brought to an abrupt halt after he suffered a stroke. The road to recovery was long and challenging, requiring determination, resilience, and a renewed focus on his craft. Music remained a constant throughout his rehabilitation, serving both as motivation and therapy.
In 2023, he returned to the stage with renewed purpose, forming Pulse Duo with fellow musician Tony Wood. The project marked a powerful comeback and a new creative chapter, blending electronic influences with live performance in an energetic and accessible format.
Today, The Urban Fat Kid continues to write, record, and perform, bringing together elements of electronic dance music and traditional musicianship. His story is one of persistence, reinvention, and a deep-rooted passion for music that has endured through every challenge.
